What is the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)?
The CDCP is a government program designed to make dental care accessible and affordable for eligible Canadians.
It supports individuals and families with a net income below $90,000 who do not have private dental insurance. The plan is specifically intended for those without any dental coverage, including private or employer-sponsored insurance.
The plan covers a wide range of essential dental services including:
Preventive
Restorative
Emergency treatments
The CDCP helps eligible Canadians access oral health care services by reducing financial barriers.
With CDCP, eligible patients can receive care from participating dentists—like us—without financial stress.
The plan also makes regular dental visits more accessible and affordable for those who qualify.
Who Qualifies for CDCP?
You may be eligible if you:
- Are a Canadian resident
- Have no private, employer-sponsored, or other dental coverage
- Have a family net income under $90,000
- Filed a tax return for the previous year
Families, adults, and seniors who meet these criteria can benefit from the program.
Coverage and Co-payments
The program helps with many treatment costs, but it may not cover everything.
Cosmetic procedures are not included in the CDCP coverage. Depending on your finances, you might have to pay part of your bills.
Here is a breakdown of coverage based on your family’s income:
- Income under $70,000: No co-payment; the plan pays 100%.
- Income from $70,000 to $79,999: You pay 40%; the plan pays 60%.
- Income from $80,000 to $89,999: You pay 60%; the plan pays 40%.
Services Covered Under CDCP
Here are some of the most common treatments covered by the program:
Dental exams & X-rays
Professional cleanings & fluoride
Fillings for cavities
Gum disease treatment
Emergency dental visits
Tooth extractions
Preventive sealants for children
Dentures and some root canals (with pre-approval)
